Ah, the Black + Turquoise Star Thing. An interesting project. Made with four skeins of Cascade Sock Yarn. There’s just something about things woven with superwash sock yarn. Things always have that next-to-the-skin-softness. And colors are always deep and rich on the skein.
The four cakes of yarn.
One of each of the colors, wound onto the warping board.

My notebook, where I work out all the math. Calculator and pencil always ready.

The Working front to back, the reed is done.

Dusty, caught creeping around the loom late at night.

Dusty, realizing he’s been caught, retreats.

The weaving begins.

The patterns are considered.

Check or stars? Check or stars? Check or stars?

The stars won!

Lots and lots of blue and black stars!

This is another weaving with hemmed ends instead of fringe. It could be a scarf, but may become a runner.

Although I don’t know anything about the art of weaving I do know though that what you show is great craftmanship. You know, Dusty told me so…
Congratulations!

Nicely done!

I can just imagine the light drape of this scarf using the sock yarn-excellent work. Do you hand sew or machine sew the hems?

Way to rock the sock yarn, Dave! I am SO glad the stars won! Today it’s a scarf. Yesterday, it’s a table-runner. Tomorrow, it’s a color accent in a photo of flowers. Fabric is SOOO versatile!

Nicely done…
That’s one of my favourite patterns to weave and I’m actually working on another project(on paper right now) to possibly use just that draft.
Scarves woven up in that in blacks and creams sell like hotcakes… pure eye candy!

Love your photo-story style of blogging! Nice weaving too.
So Dusty has discovered there is a special shelf on your loom for cats to sit and inspect the weaving… not what you thought the shelf was for? Cats just understand these things, they see the world as it really is (?)

The stars are amazing. My eldest daughter, Amber, came in and said that she really, really liked that too. That is quite the compliment coming from a 13 year old! Thank you for the lovely pictures capturing Dusty’s explore.
