How to gain 20 pounds without really trying?

How to gain 20 pounds without really trying? Try a high fiber diet. One rich in friendship with addictions of their own. My stash gained 20 pounds in the last week!

This came in last week from Heide of Serendipitous Opportuknitty, FIVE POUNDS of wool! She got back quite a haul from the processing mill. One pound of the ivory is for a Summer of Spinning prize. I’ll spin the brown and natural as-is, no dyeing. I’ve been wanting to spin some genuine natural colors, and this is exactly what I’ve been wanting to try.

Fiber from Heide

And, if having five pounds of wool appear on your desk at work wasn’t enough, one of my coworkers came in from the loading dock with a large box on a 2-wheeler. And it contained this, FIFTEEN pounds of wool!

15 Pounds

The box was on the heavy side, so I took the wool out, bagged it and tied some rope around it. It made my walk and subsequent ride on the bus home after work a lot easier. The funny looks from people? I couldn’t do anything about that. [Note to self: When placing orders for heavy objects, have it shipped to the apartment!]

I’m sure people have seen weirder things around here than a really tall dude carrying a bag of fleece. :) Awesome haul. :)

Tie ribbons around the kitties’ necks so they won’t get lost in that huge wool haul! What fun for you, and we all wait to see the wondrous results.

Ha! Drowning in goodies! See what happens when you try to clean up the stash? Do you suppose some sly photographer was taking a photo of you to post on his blog? At least you weren’t wearing layers of fur and a wig.

That’s the good kind of high fiber diet :-)

I think you should have wrapped the bundle in a very large bandana and tied it to a pole. Then folks would think you were running away from home and given you even funnier looks!

Okay, so I’m failing miserably at attempts to dye some of the roving here. Perhaps if it had been left in batts instead of drafted the endeavor would be more successful. But on the bright side, my hands are lovely shades of periwinkle, magenta and green. Spin on Dave!

Holy bananas! That’s a heckuva lot of wool!

I’m looking forward to spinning my Icelandic fleece for Tour de Fleece. We’ll see what dent I make in the nearly 5 lbs of fuzz.
