This Thing Called Relaxation…

Earlier this week found us taking a break from city living and heading down to Provincetown on Cape Cod for a few days. There are times when you just have to take a break and escape to relax and regroup. And knit on the balcony at sunset overlooking Cape Cod Bay…

Sitting on the balcony overlooking Cape Cod Bay

Leaving all modern technology behind, it’s nice to have some cherished fiber tools to play with, like a drop spindle, lucet, DPN knitting needles and a cable needle. With some fiber to spin, and handspun yarn to knit, nothing could be finer than to just relax on the bayside and create.

Crafting tools

Picture the view of the cherished fiber tools with the open Atlantic beyond, the sun setting, and seagulls riding the warm early summer air currents. This must be what Heaven looks like…

Swatching some handspun 3-ply yarn, all the stitches were beautiful…

Swatching

And spinning some merino silk on a cherry and walnut drop spindle, watching it sway in the gentle breezes caressing the spindle as it spun in it’s gentle rhythm…

Spinning with my Kundert Drop Spindle

In the few days there, I took over 900 photographs. I was able to narrow them down to my top 81 favorites. Relaxation, friendship, great food, and beautiful scenery…

Cape Cod Montage

And my top 25 favorite ASSet photographs, because Provincetown is known for that…

Wow, I feel so relaxed…

Your photo montage looks like a teeny, tiny quilt.

I’m so glad you guys got to get away! The weather this week wasn’t very good here, I hope it was better further south.

I was a tad worried about you during the week when I realized I hadn’t read any posts from you for a while – you’re usually great at posting daily……Glad that it was just because you were away enjoying yourself!!

It looks like a lovely mini-vacation. The wood in your drop spindle is gorgeous. Too bad we can’t biggify the montage. The handspun yarn is amazing.

Beautiful, as always, Dave! Nothing rejuvenates the soul like a weekend at the beach. Or, in your case, the shore.

Is that hand spun 3 ply a silk? Silk blend? Total yummage. And loving the Atlantic pics. Looks like you had a very restful trip. Will probably be out that way late Oct to see it myself.

Well, I just got back from P-Town today and a lot of those buttocks look very familiar!

There’s NO place like Provincetown. Totally relaxing plus beautiful scenery, pocket gardens and “stuff” :-)

Flying down was a very cool move…

My sister and I were just in Provincetown yesterday looking ( and finding) “Stuff”-great scarves by the way! Thanks for the pics; I forgot my camera like a dummy, I could have had a few to add myself otherwise :-)

Lovely photos – you have me really missing the ocean! (our summer vacation was to Wyoming last year, not Maine. R owes me some beach time!)
